Ancient Messini is one of the best preserved cities of ancient Greece and one of the most interesting archaeological destinations. Under the mountain of Ithomi on a 9.5-kilometer-long perimeter, sheltered by strong walls, the ancient city stretched. Temples, houses, walls and public buildings are now preserved in a very good condition, as if the time was to respect the city that was built by Theban General Epaminondas.
